Carey J. Kriz has had an extensive career in the technology, healthcare, and infrastructure development industries. Following his graduation from Officers Candidate School in the US Marine Corp (Platoon Leaders Class), he launched his commercial career in IBM as a software engineer working on systems spanning mainframes to the emerging IBM PC. His early work included the development of IBM’s first commercial speech recognition product, the development of its early AI systems and research activities on high speed computer architectures. From IBM Carey became the CEO of one of the first medical AI companies, CAMDAT, with a base in Tokyo, Japan and a US HQ in Pittsburgh, PA. Later acquired by the Hearst Corporation he then joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as the executive director of the Center for Biomedical Visualization, which he co-founded with the National University of Singapore along with other ventures and associations he launched for Johns Hopkins medicine. His international healthcare experience expanded from his IBM/Hopkins work in the late 1980s to the build of the Johns Medicine International Corporation and country relationships across Asia (including Singapore, Malaysia, China, and India), through the Middle East and Central Europe throughout the 1990s. From Hopkins Carey shifted in the 2000’s to work with the Ohio State University School of Medicine to the evolving field of personalized health, which culminated in his book “The Patient Will See You Now” (Rowan and Littlefield/2008). During his tenure in Ohio became the CEO of Americas Urgent Care (AUC), a leading primary and urgent care provider in the Midwest. Along with his duties at AUC Carey became the president of the American Association of Urgent Care, a leading professional trade association for the emerging field of urgent care physicians. Mr. Kriz has been involved in multiple capital offerings, most recently as a director of Kingdem Capital in Beijing and through an alliance with Method Investment and Advisory of London. He is currently the founding chair of the Independent Energy Partners Alliance (iEP), an investment and development partnership with Kingdem Capital of Beijing, China with a concentration on major infrastructure investments in the logistics and healthcare industries of Asia, MENA, Africa and South America. Mr. Kriz is a graduate of the University of Rochester in economics, with additional studies in math/computer science at the University of Maryland and Catholic University.
